This country has been invaded – yes, invaded – by millions of illegals from nations across the world, although most come from Mexico, our immediate southern neighbor.
The result is an unbelievable financial, social and cultural burden on every segment of U.S. society – education, medicine, the social structure, housing, jobs, law enforcement, the courts, the prison system and more.
As if it weren't bad enough that illegals by the thousands cross the border daily and spread out across the country, they're aided and abetted by politicians who foist "sanctuary city" regulations on their jurisdictions – doing it without a vote of the people or even, in many cases, even telling citizens what they're doing.
By the time it's discovered, it's essentially too late because by then, terrible damage has been done. Unfortunately, that damage is too often measured in the local news and on police blotters, which record the trail of blood across our landscape.
I know, I know – the liberal line is always: They're just coming here for a better life, or they're just here to pick lettuce or tomatoes.
If those are the reasons illegals come here, then one is hard pressed to explain the horrific crime in their wake that's exacerbated by ethnic gangs dealing drugs, sex and guns and engaging in horrific – and often casual and senseless – violence.

The call by Huckabee and others to deport 12,000,000 illegal immigrants is simply economic suicide. It would create a depression (not just a minor recession) in short order. Let's reduce productivity by 10-15%. Let's reduce consumer spending by 7-8%. Shut down hundreds of thousands of businesses who could not get workers they need. Who will pick the crops? Or do any of a hundred jobs that Americans don't want to do? It would drive up labor costs and create inflation. It would be a disaster of Biblical proportions.
Now, I am all for controlling the border. I want to know who is coming in. But we have to deal with reality, and the reality is that we need those workers who are here. The economy simply will not function without them. You can't send them home and then tell them to apply and hope they can get back in, and then expect business to function as usual. It will take years for a bureaucracy to handle the paperwork.
Go ahead. Close the borders. Find out who is here illegally and make sure they do not have a criminal record. If so, they go. The rest need to get documented, and we need to radically increase the number of immigrants we allow (after we control the borders!), especially educated workers who can help us build our knowledge economy.

4. Stop all accommodations for those who do not speak English, such as special ballots,
special interpreters, and “Press one for English.” America speaks English.

6. Stop access to food stamps and Social Security benefits. Alien invaders have no rights.

Coronado National Forest employees could call it a war zone. Some illegal aliens, particularly human and drug traffickers, are resorting to extreme measures to cross the border between Mexico and the remote southern Arizona forest.
Border Patrol agents in the region face the highest rate of illegal border crossings in the nation—nearly half a million illegals crossed here in 2006. Agents also confiscated 100,000 pounds of marijuana that was being smuggled through the forest last year.
The Washington Times reported that in May, the Border Patrol caught over 300 aliens and 600 pounds of marijuana in a 3-mile stretch over 10 days (June 19). In response to the agency’s activities within the operation, illegals set at least five fires in an attempt to burn agents out of an observation post. These fires were not the only ones that have been set by Mexican smugglers. Forest Service firefighters have seen armed smugglers walk right through their ranks as they were trying to battle fires. Now, law enforcement officers must accompany firefighters when they are sent to put out the flames.

In the past year and a half, county corrections officers have interviewed more than 4,200 suspected illegal immigrants and have placed immigration holds on just over half of them, with investigations still pending on many others.

Corrections officers in the county have actually been trained by ICE agents and exercise the federal 287 G program to allow them to identify illegal aliens, said Glen Pratt, deputy chief in charge of corrections for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
He said he believes Riverside County is doing something similar but San Bernardino County was one of the first to implement the program.

If an estimated nine million adults join the system, that would result in a total cost of $2.5 trillion for all the new beneficiaries.

You can't see it, but it can see you. A system of high-tech towers containing cameras, sensors, and radar are being built in the desert, southwest of Tucson, to monitor illegal border-crossers.

Boeing, the lead contractor in the virtual wall project, claims the equipment will be strategically placed to keep watch over a 28-mile stretch of border, with Mexico.

State Police Cpl. J.A. Laing made the stop and said he learned a lot from the men he arrested.
He said they cross the border with the help of someone, pay sometimes more $1,000 to get across the border, and then are transported to jobs across the country.
Laing said one man called it the easy way out.
"It was easier for him to illegally cross the border and to make money, like $12 an hour in construction, than it was to get the type of education he needed to pay in Mexico to get the education to get his high school diploma and to apply for a college VISA or something like that here in the United States," Laing said.

U.S. District Judge Barry Ted Moskowitz ordered each to serve 1,040 hours of community service and spend three years on probation.

Maximino Garcia pleaded guilty last year to participating in a conspiracy involving more than 900 illegal immigrants who worked for his temporary labor companies, Garcia Labor Company Inc. and Garcia Labor Company of Ohio. U.S. District Judge S. Arthur Spiegel imposed the sentence Thursday.
Homeland Security officials said the $12 million forfeiture is the largest in U.S. history and is based on the amount of money Garcia made by employing illegal immigrants. They said the case against Garcia is part of a larger, nationwide crackdown on companies that employ illegal aliens.
"Companies that use cheap, illegal alien labor as a business model should be on notice," Julie Myers, assistant secretary for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), said in a written statement.

Zapala-Urbina had pleaded guilty in June of last year to harboring an illegal alien for profit. Zapala-Urbina was part owner of Julio's Restaurant and Cantina in Cedar Falls, and the owner of two other Julio's restaurants in Missouri.
Last April, immigration officials raided the Cedar Falls business and arrested 11 illegal aliens who were working in the restaurant, and did not have authorization to work in the U.S. A few days later, agents went back to the restaurant and found another illegal working there who had been brought up from Missouri. Zapala-Urbina was originally scheduled to be sentenced in January, but failed to appear. Authorities were tipped off that he had fled to his native Mexico on Christmas Eve.
A warrant was issued for Zapala-Urbina's arrest and the sentencing was reset for February 20th. Zapala-Urbina again failed to show up and U.S. District Court Judge Linda Reade opted to proceed with sentencing, giving Zapala-Urbina 21 months in prison and ordered him to forfeit over $34,000 in cash seized from the restaurant and its bank account.

Federal agents arrested 46 illegal immigrants being held in a locked, filthy house. Nine suspected human smugglers also were arrested.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials believe smugglers were holding the immigrants until friends or relatives could "buy them out," said spokeswoman Luisa Deason. Agents went to the house Wednesday after receiving an anonymous tip, she said.
"The conditions inside the house were extremely deplorable," Deason said. "There were four or five bedrooms in which the aliens were being kept behind locked doors. There was a real bad smell in the house, and there was garbage."
No charges had been filed as of Wednesday night.
Officials will interview the immigrants and check for criminal records or previous deportation arrests. They also will be questioned about the suspected smugglers and how long they were held.
The 46 immigrants included 10 women and eight youths between the ages of 8 and 17. The group was made up of 11 Mexicans, 19 Hondurans, 10 El Salvadorans, five Guatemalans and one Brazilian.

Scott Gardner of Gastonia, NC, was slain. He was 33. He taught school, was a church deacon and baseball coach. Tina, his spouse, was seriously injured. Two small children are making their ways through life the best they can. No dad. A sick mom.
Why? Because of Ramiro Gallegos, illegal driving without a license, shooting this wheels along Highway I-30 on his merry way to Whiteville. He had five previous driving-under-the-influence arrests.
That’s only one sad scene due to illegals tolerated by our government. In the eastern section of Virginia, 18 deaths are recorded. They all focus on Hispanic workers.

The convenience store today is much more attractive and the selections are better, including the best bounty of all, cash. More and more, this and other crimes are turning out to be too alluring for illegals to pass up, and law-abiding Americans are paying the price.
The GAO study involved a population of 55,322 illegal aliens. They were arrested at least a total of 459,614 times, averaging about eight arrests per illegal alien. Ninety-seven percent had more than one arrest. Thirty-eight percent had two to five arrests; 32 percent had between six and 10 arrests; and 26 percent had more than 11 arrests.
Eighty-one percent of all arrests occurred after 1990.
The study group of 55,322 prisoners were arrested for a total of nearly 700,000 criminal offenses, average 13 each. About 46 percent were for drug and immigration offenses; about 15 percent for property related offenses — burglary, motor vehicle larceny, and property damage; and 12 percent were for murder, armed robbery, assault and sexually related crimes.
The balance were fraud, including forgery and counterfeiting; weapons violations; obstruction of justice; and DUI charges.
Eighty percent of all arrests occurred in three of the states bordering Mexico: California, Texas, and Arizona.

Richard Eversole, 58, and Jacob Bocanegra, 36, are each charged with conspiracy to harbor illegal aliens, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Alexandria announced yesterday. Eversole was arrested yesterday, and authorities were still looking for Bocanegra.
Eversole, a U.S. citizen, owned a concrete company that listed a business address in Dumfries. A bank account connected to the business showed more than $15 million in deposits, according to federal court documents.
Bocanegra is a Mexican citizen illegally in the U.S., according to a news release. He was a supervisor in Eversole's company, according to federal documents.
The pair hired illegal aliens to work on a construction project at Quantico, the news release states. They're also accused of leasing apartments for the illegal workers and transporting them around. Federal documents indicate that the workers were paid in cash.

“If an illegal worker working in the United States today gets a "work authorized" Social Security number through guest worker immigration legislation, the Totalization Agreement, or perhaps just over time, that worker could eventually apply for Social Security benefits once he or she has met eligibility requirements.
“In addition, that worker could be able to claim credits for work performed while in the U.S. illegally. The SSA maintains an "earnings suspense file," which tracks wages that cannot be posted to individual workers' records because there is no match for a name and Social Security number. Once an immigrant gains access to a work authorized Social Security number – whether a legal citizen or not – wages earned while in the U.S. unlawfully could be reinstated to the worker's new Social Security account.”
A CNN interview of the Center for Immigration Studies' Steve Camarota revealed that $10 billion has already been given to illegal aliens in the US. In a portion of the interview, Camarota told CNN's Glenn Beck: "...what`s worse than that is, that the IRS issues them tax I.D. numbers so that they can then file their income tax with their false Social Security numbers so that we can give them their $10 billion back."

A Southern California fence-building company and two executives pleaded guilty Thursday to knowingly hiring illegal immigrants and agreed to pay a penalty of $5 million. The executives could also go to prison.
The penalty is one of the biggest fines ever imposed in an immigration case, and the case represents a rare instance in which prosecutors brought criminal charges over the hiring of illegal immigrants.
Golden State Fence Co. will pay $4.7 million. Mel Kay, 64, the company’s founder, chairman and president, will forfeit $200,000, and Michael McLaughlin, 42, a manager in the company’s Oceanside office, will pay $100,000.
The two men admitted hiring at least 10 illegal immigrants.
Hirsch said prosecutors plan to ask for six months behind bars for the two men at sentencing March 28. The maximum sentence is five years. Prison time is unusual in such cases.

The governors are looking ahead to Bush's proposed federal budget next year.
Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano said she and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger are spearheading the effort to increase funding for the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program administered by the U.S. Justice Department.

More than 50 municipalities nationwide have considered, passed or rejected laws banning landlords from leasing to illegal aliens, penalizing businesses that employ undocumented workers and making English the local official language. But until now, that trend hasn't reached Texas.
"This is the first town in Texas that had the guts to do what's right," Susie Hart, who grew up in Farmers Branch, said during a recent demonstration outside City Hall. "The education system is tanking, health care has gone through the roof, everybody is bilingual."

In the past, once a woman received emergency care under Medicaid for the birth of a baby, the child was deemed eligible for coverage as well, and states had to cover them for one year from the date of birth.
Under the new policy, an application must be filed for the child, and the parents must provide documents to prove the child's citizenship.
The documentation requirements took effect in July, but some states have been slow to enforce them, and many doctors are only now becoming aware of the effects on newborns.

Authorities in Arizona have arrested 44 people on charges of smuggling hundreds of illegal immigrants into the country.
Officials said many of the suspects involved in the family-run ring are U.S. citizens. They said 11 more people, including at least five Mexican nationals, remain at large.
The arrests followed a two-year investigation. According to the FBI, the ring recruited young women to smuggle migrants' infants through ports of entry, posing as their mothers.
Meanwhile, the parents were led through the desert and across the Mexican border.
FBI officials said the ring operated for more than 10 years, smuggling Mexican, Salvadoran and the Dominican nationals for fees ranging between $500 and $800.
